Bioderma Micellar Water Review
If you're looking for a super lightweight makeup remover/ easy cleanser, you'll want to keep reading! Today we'll be reviewing the Bioderma Micellar Water in-depth. Spoiler: This one's a good one!!
Quick facts:
Formulation: Non-rinse, Non-comedogenic, Hypoallergenic. The blue bottle contains fragrance (but the pink bottle formulation does not contain fragrance).
Texture: Very watery texture with a slight slight viscosity to it.
Scent: A grandma soapy kind of smell
Where to buy: Amazon
Price: $23.99
Main pros: This is a very effective cleansing water, it removes even waterproof makeup well and leaves the skin hydrated. Good price and quality, this is great for quick makeup removal and cleansing!
Cons: This blue one that's supposed to be more hydrating has a heavy fragrance, unlike the pink one. The bottle is 100% leaky which is not convenient for travelling or storage. When I travel I usually decant some of this into a smaller dispensing travel bottle anyways though.
My verdict: 8/10. This is good and if you prefer non-scented, then you can go for the regular pink bottle. They both do a great job at removing makeup and while I normally prefer double cleansing with a makeup removing balm, this is my go-to if I just want something quick! I compare it down below with the Garnier one and the Garnier one definitely makes my face feel more sensitive over time! This will be going on my all time favourites list here!
About the Bioderma Hydrabio H20 Micellar Water
Hydrabio H2O uses micelles, which are molecules with fatty acid esters that capture impurities while respecting the balance of your skin. Hydrabio H2O embraces your skin, delivering tolerance and comfort without compromising on its cleansing power. First and only cleansing, makeup-removing and moisturizing micellar solution to use the exclusive Aquagenium® formula, Hydrabio H2O targets skin’s natural hydration. The AquageniumTM patented complex (with Vitamin PP/B3 and Apple seed extract) improves hydration and targets the skin’s natural moisturizing abilities, and its capacity to retain moisture, which are crucial for maintaining balance. The natural D.A.F. complex contributes to enhance your skin’s tolerance, leaving it softer, more comfortable and more radiant
I personally still like to rinse off the micellar water after removing my makeup (so the added moisturizing abilities isn't a great value added for me), but I do like how gentle this micellar water is while being very effective! I think the addition of glycerin in this blue bottle formula is able to give the water a little more glide if that makes sense.

How to apply Bioderma Micellar Water
- Soak a cotton pad with Hydrabio H2O. I like to use reusable cotton rounds like this.
- Cleanse/remove makeup from face and eyes with gentle soaking then wiping motions.
- Non-rinse. (But I still prefer to rinse because there is still a little bit of residue)
What is the big deal about micellar water?
Micellar water is a skin cleansing product that can help hydrate and clean the skin, removing dirt and oil and helping keep your skin clear. Micellar water is a multipurpose skin care product that has become a favorite among beauty gurus and dermatologists alike. Especially for it's quick and gentle abilities to remove makeup! (No stinging or too much tugging like with makeup remover wipes)
Some sources online have mentioned that it is suitable for sensitive skin, but in my experience, using even soft reusable cotton rounds and wiping the skin daily can cause micro exfoliation (making my skin more sensitive over time).
Garnier vs Bioderma micellar water
You can see in my photo that both of these have been well loved! While they both perform similarly, the Bioderma one is more effective at removing makeup and more gentle on the skin. I noticed that the Garnier definitely makes my face feel more sensitive over time (although I do have more sensitive skin)! If budget allows, I'd definitely vote for the Bioderma one!
My Final Thoughts: Bioderma Micellar Water Review Verdict
In short, I love using this and it's making my all-time favourites list. I won't be using this daily (as I mentioned earlier, I prefer using cleansing balms most days since that is less friction on my skin). But this is a great one for quick cleanses or for those late nights that you just want to get to bed ASAP!
Let me know if you've found this review useful or if there's another makeup remover you'd like me to review, I'd love to hear your thoughts!
