Quick facts:

Formulation: Cruelty-free, vegan friendly, formulated without parabens, silicone, ethanol, artificial colour, essential oils and fragrance

Potential irritants: Cetyl Alcohol, according to INCIDecoder, while not a prominent risk, and a so-called fatty “good” alcohol, may still cause a moderate irritation, patch test. (However, as this cream is meant to ease irritation, and redness, there is a very small chance.)

Texture: A thicker, almost opaque light blue cream but easily spreadable and very emollient

Price comparisons* as of June 2022 (for the tube size):

$16.56 USD on YesStyle

$28.99 USD on StyleVana

Scent: Fragrance-free, however, it does contain a very simple, clean smell

Main pros: Perfect for dry or combo skin due to its heavier texture. It provides ample hydration without leaving the skin greasy or heavy feeling. (I actually have oily skin and thin this down by using the Avene water spray prior to applying the Dear Klairs cream).

Main cons: The brand has mentioned that it's not recommended as an all-over moisturizer but rather a spot treatment for sensitive/irritated or stressed skin. I've personally been using it daily so far with no adverse effects but you should rotate other moisturizers while using this!

*I broke out on my forehead last month and then also did a few blackhead extractions, leaving my skin super red and uncomfortable. I used this cream night and day for about 3 days and noticed a difference right away! There seems to be almost a cooling effect as well, so it feels really nice and comfortable immediately upon application.

One of the key ingredients, Centella Asiatica Extract, is high up on the formulation, while the Guaiazulene (star ingredient) seems to be below the 1% line. I personally already know Centella works well for me in calming my skin, but if you haven't really tried that ingredient yet I suggest you first check out the SKIN 1004 Centella Ampoule (100% Centella Asiatica extract), review here!

Can I use Klairs midnight blue calming cream everyday?

Yes, you can use the Dear, Klairs midnight blue calming cream daily, night or day. I've personally been using mine daily and I have combo/oily skin.

Is Klairs midnight blue calming cream good for acne?

The Klairs calming cream contains Shea Butter and some other oils, so I don't think it would be good for those with oily or acne-prone skin. I believe it's meant for those with sunburnt or stressed skin, maybe those who are on the drier side as well.

Wrapping up this Dear Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream Review

This is a heavier cream that is soothing and moisturizing but also really refreshing at the same time. It's been perfect for the summertime days when you get a bit a teeny bit red from a day out, or if you're skin's just feeling a bit hot and stressed.

I highly recommend picking up the tube version of this since it's more sanitary, and even for the more oily skin friends, you can try thinning this out a bit by using a water/ toning spray prior to moisturizing!
