I'm From Mugwort Essence Review [Honest Review]
Mugwort has become a super popular ingredient in korean skincare as of late. And rightfully so! It has powerful anti-inflammatory properties and is rich in antioxidants. Not only is it perfect for sensitive and acne-prone skin, it also helps to combat damage from environmental stress. After seeing that this essence is 100% Mugwort extract, I couldn't wait to try it.

Formulation: Formulated without parabens, silicone, ethanol, artificial colour, essential oils and fragrance. The I'm From Mugwort Essence is 100% Mugwort Extract, aka Artemisia Princeps Extract.
Potential irritants: Because Mugwort is an herbal plant, I recommend patch testing first to see how the skin reacts. I personally did not have any adverse reactions, and since this is normally a plant used for healing the skin, it is generally safe to use topically.

Pros: It is a beautiful product with a very simple ingredient: Mugwort extract! This is the perfect toner/essence to pat into the skin for something gentle, to calm redness, irritation and dryness. Suitable for most skin types, and you can use this daily as a toner/essence or use on a soaked cotton pad as a mini mask pack. I have sensitive cheeks and a bit of rosacea and applying this like a mini mask has helped reduced redness for me.
Cons: I personally find this a little more expensive compared to my favorite SKIN1004 Centella Ampoule (review here) as Centella Asiatica seems to have very similar benefits in healing and soothing - but I enjoyed both products and it's really up to your preference for the texture and scent. The SKIN1004 Centella Ampoule is a bit more viscous than this essence, so may be slightly better for those with dry skin.
What does I'm From Mugwort Essence do?
The I'm From Mugwort Essence is a soothing essence made with the single ingredient of Mugwort Extract aka Artemisia Princeps Extract. The refreshing, fluid (almost watery) formula adheres and absorbs into the skin to soothe sensitive skin and recharge moisture from within.
*The product claims to be calming and purifying, and also claims to improve skin tone. I am almost finished my bottle as of July 2022 and have yet to see any "purifying" of my pores or any skin tone improvements. However, I do feel that this does calm my skin and has very apparently reduced my redness around the cheek area.

Mugwort has been around in Korea for a long time and is known as a healing herb for its antibacterial, anti-fungal, and skin-protective properties. I believe less is known about it compared to Cica products (Centella Asiatica), but it has been shown in clinical studies to improve dry skin symptoms in atopic dermatitis (National Library of Medicine).
Basically, it's supposed to be soothing, anti-inflammatory, helps skin retain moisture and act as an antioxidant as well. Very similar to the benefits of Centella Asiatica (I wrote about it in another review: SKIN1004 Centella Ampoule).
How to use I'm From Mugwort Essence
After cleansing the skin, dispense the appropriate amount of mugwort essence and gently pat over the face to promote absorption. You can also soak this essence in a few cotton pads and layer it over the face or irritated skin areas as a mask pack.
How often should I use mugwort essence?
You can use mugwort essence daily in the place of your toner or serum, or use it when you're experiencing skin irritation or dryness and need something more soothing.
Is I'm From Mugwort Essence good for sensitive skin?
Yes - mugwort essence is perfect for sensitive skin. It has soothing and anti-inflammatory properties and is very gentle on the skin. If your skin is having a particularly sensitive time, I recommend soaking a toner pad in this essence and using it as a mini mask on the sensitive areas.
Is mugwort essence good for oily skin?
Mugwort essence is slightly hydrating and makes for a lightweight moisturizing toner for oily skin friends! I wasn't able to find a study that proves it has anti-bacterial properties, but I've seen articles that claim it is good for those that are acne-prone as well.
I'm From Mugwort Essence review summary
While I did enjoy the I'm from Mugwort Essence and it's 100% used up now, I personally find this a little more expensive compared to my favorite SKIN1004 Centella Ampoule (review here) Both products did such a good job in soothing and hydrating the skin, but for how fast I went through this essence, I think the SKIN1004 one was more affordable, it's made it onto my all-time favourites list.
