Into You Lip Mud Review & Swatches

I first came across the Into You Lip Muds from Red Book and when I saw them in store at Cosme in Japan, I had to pick up two. If you're curious how these guys performed, keep reading for my honest review!

Quick facts:

Potential irritants: This product is cruelty free and free from common irritants but contains fragrance.

Application: The lip mud is easy to apply, offering a velvety matte medium coverage. It comes in a chic, minimalist tube with a doe foot applicator.

Where to buy: They have an official website, I also found the lip muds on Amazon.

Price: $15.99 USD currently on Amazon

Main pros: I LOVE the drier matte texture of these lip muds! They apply smoothly and leave a soft, blurry finish on the lips without being drying. The color is buildable and there is a huge range of modern shades suitable for a wide variety of skin tones.

Cons: You will need to reapply throughout the day or after eating/drinking. And the name 'lip mud' might be a bit confusing as the texture is more of a dry soufflé than a mud.

Verdict: 7/10. I enjoyed the texture of these and they can really 'undefine' your lips if you want to change up your lip shape, but I still want to try more colors that might suit me better. With these being primarily sold online, it's really difficult judging from swatches which you're going to like.

Into You Lip Muds vs 3CE Velvet Lip Tints

Into You is an up and coming cbeauty brand known for its extensive shade range for these lip products. The Lip Muds have a creamy matte finish that feels lightweight and non-drying on the lips. The color range is impressive, with a variety of shades from subtle nudes to bold berries. I found them to be kind of similar in concept to the 3CE Velvet Lip Tints, but as you can see from my swatches below, the lip muds are a bit more dry and almost pasty looking compared to the creamy lip tints.

The 3CE Velvet Lip Tints are not as opaque and matte as the Into You Lip Muds, but they are just a smidge more comfortable to wear and more forgiving on the lip crusties haha.

How to apply the Into You Lip Muds

  1. Prep your lips with a lip scrub and balm to create a smooth canvas. I love using the Mac Prep and Prime Lip for smoothing out the lip lines and preventing feathering.
  2. Apply a thin layer of a nude or mid tone lip mud all over the lips a little more on the cupid's bow for the base, then layer a darker color in the center of the lips for a slight ombre.

Final thoughts

I highly recommend trying out the Into You Lip Muds if you like matte lippies!! The texture is super unique, and they have a great color range you can experiment with. They really blur out the lips and you can create some really soft or bold trendy looks with them!
