Biossance Squalane + Lactic Acid Night Resurfacing Serum Review

If you're looking to try chemical exfoliants for the first time or a resurfacing serum like this one, you'll want to keep reading! Today we'll be reviewing the Biossance Squalane + Lactic Acid Night Resurfacing Serum in-depth.

Biossance Squalane + Lactic Acid Night Resurfacing Serum

Quick facts:

Formulation: Alcohol-free, fragrance-free, essential oils free, paraben-free, PEG-free, phthalates free, sulfates free (sephora green product), non-toxic, vegan, cruelty-free

Potential irritants: This is a green, plant-based product, with limited irritants, however, there is active (safe but potent) 10% lactic acid, therefore may tingle or irritate based on usage.

Scent:  Labeled as fragrance-free, however, the overall scent is fresh and clean and very subtle

Where to buy: Sephora, Biossance

Price: $62 USD

Main pros: The concentration of lactic acid is very potent as I mentioned above. This product also has a clean ingredients list.

Cons: For first time resurfacing serum users or even newbies to any type of acids (AHAs, BHAs, Lactic or Glycolic acid) - you'll want to avoid this. This was a little too strong for me, even using it spaced out between different days. If you have clogged pores, I'd suggest trying the COSRX BHA Liquid or Paula's Choice BHA to start. If it's texture that you're looking to tackle, I'd suggest you look towards a gentle AHA or a lower % lactic acid face wash or serum instead). It's better to go gentler over a longer period of time to begin with so you don't end up burning or sensitizing your skin!

My verdict: 6/10. But only because it wasn't for me. I think if you're used to using lactic acids then you might enjoy this formula and texture!

Biossance Squalane + Lactic Acid Night Resurfacing Serum Texture

Biossance Squalane + Lactic Acid Night Resurfacing Serum Benefits

Take rough, bumpy skin texture and smooth it out in just one week. The intensity of this exfoliating AHA lactic acid face serum delivers a smoother and softer texture, visibly diminished fine lines, and an overall brighter complexion, while the squalane at the heart of the formula soothes and fortifies to make skin stronger and healthier from within. Powerful but non-irritating, the 10% vegan lactic acid formula delivers silky skin—at any age. Lactic acid is also a “does-it-all” ingredient that fights uneven texture, minimizes signs of aging, and can be layered with other Biossance treatments to amplify their benefits.

Unlike other treatments with long wait times, results are visible quickly—as soon as overnight, or after only 1-2 weeks.

While this is not supposed to be non-irritating - I did feel the effects of the resurfacing serum. My skin was a little more tender or sensitive after use.

My Final Thoughts: Biossance Squalane + Lactic Acid Night Resurfacing Serum Review Verdict

Biossance Rapid Radiance Set from Sephora

In short, this serum was a little too potent for me and therefore it did not make my all-time favourites list. I did however really enjoy the Biossance eye cream (review here) and Squalane Vitamin C Rose Oil (review here)! If you're new to the brand then I also recommend checking out their sets on Sephora before you get one of their full sized products.

Let me know if you've found this review useful or if there's another product by Biossance you'd like me to review, I'd love to hear your thoughts!
