Perhaps the minerals found within the water could irritate a specific skin composition, however this is very unlikely.

About

The Avene Thermal Spring Water is described to be a "unique thermal water spray that is bottled directly at the source and packaged in a sterile environment for guaranteed purity. Its composition is clinically shown to soothe, soften and calm sensitive skin".

The Avene website mentions that it has an:

  • "optimal mineral composition that does not dry out skin"
  • is rich in postbiotic microflora to calm and soothe the skin
  • and the water itself has a neutral pH that's supposed to reduce sensitivity and restore balance

It's suited for all skin types and the large mist is meant to last around 30 days. (Lasts around 2-3 months for me, I generally only use in the evening after cleansing). I can't attest to it having any particular soothing or stand-out benefits, but it is really comfortable to use during a hot summer day or evening.

How to use the Avene Thermal Spring Water:

avene eau thermale mist is very fine

  1. Cleanse the skin and gently pat dry. Spray the thermal mist evenly across face and pat in. (The mist is very fine and even, it feels really gentle but actually sprays out a substantial amount of water).
  2. While your skin is still damp, apply light serum or moisturizer to seal in the hydration.

*This is slightly different from the original website description of how to use this product, I just prefer to use the mineral water this way. Some reviews have mentioned they'll use this on their hair prior to blow drying if it has dried out too much, others have said they use this to set or refresh their makeup throughout the day.

Avene Thermal Spring Water review summary

This is truly for all skin types and is a good skin softener after cleansing. The mist is really fine, even and comfortable and really helps with softening the skin before serums and moisturizer.

I feels like it helps the delivery of other skincare products and it's a good refreshing mist during hot summer days. However, at this price point it's a little over priced and I'd recommend getting it on sale (sometimes they have offers on the two pack in some drugstores.

If you have combo/dry skin though be sure to follow up with a moisturizer after using this!
