COSRX Ultimate Nourishing Rice Overnight Mask Review
If you've been looking for a great soothing and hydrating mask, this might be the one for you. I've almost reached the end of my tube but hopefully, the images still look nice haha. It's well-loved! Let's dive into the COSRX Rice Overnight Mask review!

Pros: The overnight mask has such an emollient but light texture and smoothly glides onto the skin and instantly leaves the skin feeling soft and smooth. The skin is left feeling hydrated, and replenished without feeling heavy, greasy or sticky. There are also very few irritants in the formulation. I've also used this as a quick hydration mask at times and find it works well even just for 15 mins as well! (More about this below on how I prefer to use it).
Cons: The brightening effects are not very apparent, and I don't notice any effects on the clarity in my skin. I'm also a side sleeper so don't usually like to have something sticky or still tacky feeling left on my face.

The Cosrx website notes that the overnight mask will leave your skin feeling like you’ve been to a spa! The mask provides the skin with intensive hydration and leaves it looking clearer and softer. The mask is also known to brighten and soften dull skin with the rice extract in the formula.

According to INCIDecoder, the key ingredient Niacinamide is known to be highly effective for brightening the skin. It is a superstar ingredient that signals to the skin cells that they need to “behave better” and smooths wrinkles in the skin. It also develops a healthy and strong skin barrier and deeper absorption of hydration.
Allantoin is another key ingredient in this rice mask which claims to be a super common soothing ingredient that also softens and protects the skin, whilst also promoting wound healing. It is suitable for all skin types but especially useful for those with dry skin types.
How do you use the COSRX overnight Rice mask?
- After cleansing, apply a generous dollop and spread it onto your face and neck area in the PM.
- Rinse off in the AM.
My preferred way to use the COSRX Overnight Rice Mask though is as a pre-makeup hydrating mask. Prior to applying makeup, I'll massage this into the skin especially going over any dry patches, use this as mask for about 15 minutes, then wash off. I'll then either use just a toner or serum + SPF and then apply makeup as usual. With this method, I find that my makeup will apply smoother, my dry spots will be gone and my base makeup won't separate as much since I don't use a moisturizer underneath.
Can I use the COSRX sleeping mask everyday?
Yes, you can use the sleeping mask everyday! It has a gentle formulation.
Is COSRX rice overnight mask good for oily skin?
The rice mask would be better for normal to combo skin, maybe even dry skin. You could try using a smaller amount as a PM moisturizer for oily skin.
My Final Verdict
When I first tried this product as an overnight mask, I applied such a thick layer and it got super sticky and uncomfortable throughout the night. My favorite way to use this now is as a prep before makeup application and I've been really loving the results!
