Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Review

If you're looking for a multipurpose skincare product - you'll want to keep reading! Today we'll be reviewing the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream in-depth.

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant

Quick facts:

Formulation: Alcohol free

Texture: A thick translucent balmy-cream, kind of vaseline like but thinner and smoother. Not sure why they call this a cream, but once you warm it up a little it does become easier to smooth over the skin.

Scent: Available in both fragrance-free and scented versions, I have the scented and it smells a bit floral/herbal

Where to buy: In person you could find it at Shoppers in Canada or Macy's/ Ulta in the States. It's currently sold out on Amazon but you could purchase directly from the Elizabeth Arden website here.

Price: ~$27 USD

Main pros: It really is a cult classic that has been proven to do what it is meant to do, it hydrates and heals and honestly I have had no issues with it. It healed my lips quickly, and I haven’t used vaseline since.

Cons: The smell for some people is not ideal and some claim for it to be too greasy. For me the biggest cons are the fact it contains parabens (propylparaben as a preservative).

My verdict: 8/10. It's made my all-time favourites list. I personally will keep this product in my makeup drawer forever. It's just so versatile for many different things (not just healing cracked lips)! I wouldn't use this all over the face so I don't mind the greasiness of it. About The Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream:

A cult classic, known and loved by many. Created in the 1930s by Miss Arden, this product was designed to soothe, protect and heal the skin. It gained quick success and became a must-have for MUAs and beauty-gurus everywhere. It is an award-winning beauty balm with a versatile formula that provides deep hydration and protection to the skin for up to eight hours. It is dermatologist-tested and can be used for various purposes, making it a go-to product for multiple skincare needs.

Fun Fact: The 8-Hour term was apparently coined by a loyal client of Elizabeth Arden who claimed she used the product on her child’s grazed knee and 8 hours later it was healed.

What is Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream good for?

You could use the Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream in MANY different ways. My favourite is to use it to quickly heal dry flakey lips, to soften any super dry hair ends, moisturize my elbows, or to warm it up on my fingertips then add it to the tops of my cheekbones or collarbone for a healthy dewy skin look. It's a makeup artists kit staple for a reason! It's fast and effective.

Avoid contact with eyes and do not apply over puncture wounds, infections, or open cuts.

Can you use Arden 8 hour cream on your face?

You can technically use this all over your face if you wanted to, but it's a little too thick so it might feel unpleasant. Try gently warming this up with your fingertips then dabbing where you might want a bit more moisture on your face.

Is Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream the same as Vaseline?

The Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream contains petrolatum (same ingredient in Vaseline), but it also contains other beneficial ingredients like vitamin E, Lanolin, and Castor Seed Oil. It also has a smoother and more liquidy texture than Vaseline, which makes it a bit more pleasant to use on lips or other dry skin areas.

My Final Thoughts

In short, I love using this product and it's so versatile! It's made my all-time favourites list.

It's definitely a multi-functional skincare product. Suitable for various skin types, but particularly beneficial for those with dry or sensitive skin or people prone to wind-chapping, the cream effectively calms and hydrates the skin for hours.

Let me know if you've found this review useful or if there's another product by Elizabeth Arden you'd like me to review, I'd love to hear your thoughts!
