Farmacy Very Cherry Bright Serum Review

After trying out and enjoying the Farmacy Green Clean Cleansing Balm, I was excited to try more of their line of 'clean' products! Their ingredient lists are a great step in the right direction and everything is cruelty free, vegan, paraben and sulphate free.

TL;DR though I was pretty disappointed with this serum, everything from the application, texture was sticky and subpar plus I also think that Vitamin C products have to be stored in lightfast containers. This did not make it to my all time favourites list.

Let's get into the review!

Quick facts:

Makeup Alley Rating: 1/5 from 1 review

INCIDecoder page for Farmacy Very Cherry Bright Serum

Formulation: cruelty free, paraben free, synthetic fragrances free and formulated without mineral oils

Potential irritants: No main irritants on the ingredient list

Texture: A very liquidy serum but remains sticky/tacky on the skin

Price: $82 CAD, $62 USD

Where to purchase: Farmacy, Sephora

Scent: A sweet, but overly ripened cherry scent

Packaging: The serum comes in a plastic pump bottle, full size is 30ml

Main Pros: It is a 'clean' serum with plenty of fruit extracts and natural ingredients. It contains 4 different types of vitamin C (15% is a good concentration to be effective) that work together to brighten skin, as well as hyaluronic acid for added hydration.

Main cons: The texture is just too sticky for my personal preference (it is better once you apply moisturizer over it though). Also, you should generally avoid any vitamin C (ascorbic acid) products packaged in traditional, open-mouthed jars or clear bottles. Ascorbic acid is a particularly vulnerable antioxidant when exposed to UV light and air and can lose effectiveness very quickly.

About the Farmacy Very Cherry Bright Serum

The brand notes that this is a 15% clean vitamin C serum powered by a potent cocktail of vitamin C-rich acerola cherry and hyaluronic acid to visibly brighten, firm and hydrate skin.

Key Ingredients (from Brand website):

  • Four Forms of Vitamin C (15% From Natural Acerola Cherry and Vitamin C Derivatives):
Vitamin C is a potent antioxidant that visibly brightens, firms and fights free radicals to reduce signs of aging.
  • Hyaluronic Acid (four forms): This targets different areas of the skin to deliver long-lasting hydration and boost your natural moisture balance.
  • Sacha Inchi Peptide: Natural small peptide from the seeds of the Sacha Inchi plant, a known Peruvian superfood. Helps to reduce the look of skin sagginess for a softer, smoother, younger-looking appearance.

According to INCIDecoder, most of the ingredients here are non irritating or clog pores. It's also nice to note that they've added Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, which could have soothing properties as well.

How to use:

  1. Cleanse skin and pat dry
  2. Apply a dime-sized amount of serum to skin, press gently into skin to aid absorption
  3. Apply moisturizer as need

*It is a little too sticky for daytime and leaves a bit of a shine. I would recommend this for PM.

Summing up this Farmacy Very Cherry Bright Serum Review

It's got a good 15% concentration of the key ingredient and it is a 'clean' product.

Personally, due to the texture and the price point, I won't be repurchasing. Also - they need to change this to a dark/air sealed bottle for the vitamin c to remain effective!! Again, this did not make it to my all time favourites list.

Let me know your thoughts below if you have a go-to vitamin C or have tried this one! :)

Cheers,

Tia
